“I am 33 years old. I have been in TOPSFLO for 13 years, and I have spent exactly one-third of my life here. If these 13 years of experience are erased, my life will become very blank. TOPSFLO to me is not only It is a job, and it is a career that I want to fight for my whole life!”
——Amy Yan

There is a saying that goes like this: There is always a dream, what if it comes true?
How long have you tried to hold on to your dreams?
As one of TOPSFLO’s longest-serving employees, Amy Yan has adhered to her original intention of being an excellent foreign trader in the past 13 years, and has counterattacked from a “novel” in the micro pump industry to a “sales champion” who dominates the list all the year round. Today we will learn about Amy Yan’s growth story together.

Luck always favors those who never give up
In 2010, Amy graduated from a university in Changsha, majoring in Business English. Before graduation, she had already determined her future career direction—foreign trade sales.
Like many classmates, she went to the “big city” Shenzhen with full confidence. The first job was to do business merchandise. Amy happily thought that she had found the ideal job. However, after half a year, she found that the company’s foreign trade business was very small. Disheartened, she chose to resign. Because foreign trade jobs were not easy to find, Amy later tried to do other shopping guide work, but what she wanted to do was still foreign trade work.
After wandering around for nearly a year, in April 2011, Amy, who returned to Changsha, saw the information that Changsha TOPSFLO Pump Industry was recruiting overseas salesmen when submitting her resume.

Amy was very excited, because the position recruited by TOPSFLO was exactly her ideal job. However, her performance during the interview was unsatisfactory, and she got stuck when introducing herself. Frustrated and thinking she must be dead, she sent an email to Richard Wang, the founder of TOPSFLO Pumps, to express her sincere thanks. Many years later, Amy knew that it was this email that made Richard Wang see her desire for a foreign trade job, and thus let her get this ideal job.
In May 2011, Amy joined TOPSFLO Pump Industry and was in charge of foreign trade development.

There is always a gap between ideal and reality. After working in foreign trade, Amy discovered that book knowledge and practical application are different. When dealing with foreign inquiries and replying to customer emails, she often lost her way. What she didn’t expect was that Helen He, who was the marketing director at the time, would guide her in the wrong way. For a long period of time after that, Amy wrote the first draft, Helen He gave guidance, Amy made revisions, and Helen He re-reviewed… After polishing over and over again, from every email to be revised, to gradually becoming independent In handling emails, Amy’s communication skills and reply ideas have all improved rapidly.

Ten years later, the TOPSFLO business department has developed into a large team of 30 people, but Amy is recognized as the person whose “email style is closest to Helen He”. This way of being taught by a master has been passed down since then, and has become a “welfare” for TOPSFLO newcomers – each new salesman will be assigned to an experienced “master” who will give guidance and help in every detail Newcomers integrate into work as soon as possible.

The Road to Growth of a Sales Champion
Soon, Amy welcomed the first customer to visit. The other party is a major customer from the Korean ice machine industry. At that time, she was still a newcomer in foreign trade and had no experience in serving large customers. However, she is not afraid at all, a newborn calf is not afraid of tigers, she is full of expectations for this.
The customer needs a water pump that can match the ice machine. The early detection results of the TOPSFLO water pump are satisfactory, but after the water pump is installed in the equipment, the ideal flow effect cannot be achieved. This time, the customer directly brought the equipment to TOPSFLO for pump installation and testing. During the communication, the TOPSFLO structural engineer found that the pipeline design of the customer’s equipment was very complicated, and many adapters were installed. Engineers from both sides discussed and optimized the structure of the equipment on site, and successfully made the TOPSFLO water pump play the best effect.
In the end, this customer placed an order for 5,000 water pumps at one time, and the sales of 40,000 US dollars made Amy feel the sense of accomplishment as a salesperson for the first time, and also made her realize that the micro pump industry she is in is a combination of knowledge and technology. An industry that requires a high degree of professionalism.

In 2012, the cooperation between TOPSFLO and Whirlpool, a global manufacturer of large household appliances, gave Amy a deeper understanding of the word “professional”. As a well-known international brand, when Whirlpool selects pump suppliers, it has very strict standards in terms of products, technology, factory strength, and management regulations. They even put product components under a microscope to carefully examine their mechanical structures. It was also the first time for Amy to come into contact with such a high-standard client, and the pressure suddenly arose. But she has always been a person with a good attitude. When encountering mountains and opening roads and building bridges when encountering waters, she decided to devote 120% of her enthusiasm to serving customers.

The customer has extremely high requirements on the impurities produced during the operation of the pump, so replace the original graphite bushing with an imported ceramic bushing; if the customer needs the pump to withstand a pressure above 10bar, then tailor-made, design a water inlet like a flute … After every communication, Amy needs to coordinate multiple departments to improve and optimize. She is often exhausted, but as long as customers have needs, she immediately becomes full of fighting spirit like fighting chicken blood. Strict requirements are not only pressure, but also help. Under the high standards of customers, TOPSFLO finally handed over high-quality water pumps that satisfy customers, and the company’s R&D, production, quality testing and other aspects of standards have also been comprehensively improved.

There are many similar service experiences for major clients, and Amy’s professionalism and comprehensive ability have grown after repeated polishing. She is active and eager to learn, and she humbly asks her seniors for advice when she has questions she doesn’t understand; she is sincere and kind, and solves every customer’s needs and problems with her heart. In terms of performance, Amy has made great strides all the way, winning the title of “Sales Champion” every year, and becoming the first salesman in the TOPSFLO pump industry whose annual personal performance exceeded 5 million US dollars.

Let “professional” become the most eye-catching label
With the expansion of the company’s market territory, the business team has gradually grown, and Amy’s role has gradually changed from a salesperson to a team manager.
After many years of teaching experience as a master, Amy also summed up her own set of methods, and the most important thing is to be familiar with the product and industry. Every salesperson must clearly know how each TOPSFLO product is produced, understand its production process, performance effect, application matching, understand the R&D testing and quality control process; every salesperson must clearly understand the micro pump Industry development trends, understanding of new technologies in the industry, and even the development of product application fields, industry pain points, and product matching solutions. “Only by understanding the industry better than customers can we serve customers better”, this is Amy’s creed that she has been steadfast in practicing for many years.
Amy followed the path that Helen He accompanied her, and unreservedly passed on her experience to everyone in the team, which naturally won the trust and praise of her partners——
“Amy is a very delicate, professional, tenacious and very humble person.”
“I especially like Amy because she always listens attentively to everyone.”
“Amy loves to smile, and can always keep a smile on every client and every colleague. She is a person who combines wisdom, kindness and bravery with great personality.”
Partners are willing to use the most beautiful words in the world to describe her, but in Amy’s heart, Helen He has always been regarded as her idol in the workplace, “Ten years ago, I wanted to be a business expert like Sister Helen. Need to keep learning from her.”
If you don’t accumulate steps, you won’t reach thousands of miles; if you don’t accumulate small streams, you won’t be able to form rivers and seas. The story of Amy Yan who persisted in her dream for ten years inspired every TOPSFLO person to stick to her original aspiration and never give up her dream. And she has already thought about her next goal as ten years ago-to become a product expert in the micro pump industry. “Professional” will definitely become the most eye-catching label in her life.

[Easter egg] Amy’s workplace quotes
“Work has to be something you want to do.”
“Work must have content that can achieve value.”
“Like is the original intention, which is very important. When you encounter difficulties, think about your original intention, and you will be more able to persevere.”
“If you believe in the company’s products, it must be excellent; if you believe in yourself, nothing is insurmountable; if you believe in your partners, fully believe that they can cooperate and support you well; if you believe in the company’s leaders, time will tell everything.”
